Lunar Eclipse Falls on Winter Solstice for First Time in Centuries
As many as 1.5 billion people worldwide will be able to watch when the Earth's shadow creeps across the moon's surface early Tuesday morning, the first time in hundreds of years that a lunar eclipse will fall on the winter solstice.
With the full moon high in the winter sky, the lunar eclipse will be visible from four continents, with the best views from North America and Central America if weather permits, scientists say.

The moon appears totally covered by shadow as the Earth passes between the moon and the sun during a lunar eclipse in January 2001.
"It's a really democratic event," Andrew Fraknoi, the chairman of astronomy at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, told the San Francisco Chronicle, "because you don't need an expensive telescope or any other sophisticated equipment to enjoy the spectacle -- just your eyes or, if you like, a pair of binoculars."
Unlike a solar eclipse, eclipses of the moon can usually be observed anywhere in the hemisphere where the moon is above the horizon.
This particular lunar eclipse also may be seen in totality from northern and western Europe, some of northeast Asia, Hawaii and New Zealand, according to Space.com. In total, some 1.5 billion people may have a chance to see the full eclipse, the website reported.
Total lunar eclipses during winter in the northern hemisphere are fairly common, NASA says. However, a lunar eclipse falling precisely on the date of the solstice is quite rare.
Geoff Chester of the U.S. Naval Observatory inspected a list of eclipses going back 2000 years for NASA.
"Since Year 1, I can only find one previous instance of an eclipse matching the same calendar date as the solstice, and that is 1638 DEC 21," Chester said, according to NASA. "Fortunately we won't have to wait 372 years for the next one ... that will be on 2094 DEC 21."

This year's event will take 3 hours and 38 minutes. The eclipse begins on Tuesday at 1:33 a.m. ET, when the Earth's dark-red shadow will turn up on the edge of the moon, according to NASA. It will take about an hour for the shadow to cover the entire moon. Totality begins at 2:41 a.m. and lasts for 72 minutes.
If you only have time for a quick look, NASA recommends that you take a peek 3:17 a.m. ET. That's when the moon will be fully covered in an amber light.

Me Oh My-17 More Days!!!!
WOW!! I cant believe how this month is flying by.....tomorrow Dh has a Daddy /Daughter date and I plan on finishing up any Christmas I have forgotten down in Brigham.
Our house is all Christmasy! WHOOT!! But darn weather-its been raining and its melted almost all of our snow-I hate soggy, yucky ground weather....Id much rather have SNOW!!!! Just not tom though...okay!:)
Stingers best friend from school has moved back-man we sure were missing him-especially Stinger....so its all good at school-really good infact. He's still doing really well-all A's and B's :)And he is really looking forward to having him come over and play soon-maybee even a sleep-over.....wow-eh?
Monkey Boy and Flamingo are crazy as all get out-especially when they start feeling Christmas-which in our house isnt hard to do-LOLOLOL They are sooo excited and I love seeing their excited faces. They are both doing really well in school as well. Monkey boy is getting a pizza prize tom at school for doing really well on a test he took:) Hes very proud abt that.
Something got me thinking tnight though...abt Stinger and how well he is doing.. Hes still having a really tough time with conversations with certain people etc, strangers. I know he wants to say something and can-just I dont know if he knows what-ya know...its kinda hard to describe... I read something on one of my email lists with Aspies which I am going to try and do which is exactly what Stinger needs to work on....

We have worked quite a bit on conversation. I have a stack of index cards, each with a conversation topic (such as current movies, favorite books, favorite toys, what did you do yesterday, mom, dad, grandparents, rollerskating, the beach, etc).
I used a lot of ideas from Teach Me Language by Sabrina Freeman and Lorelei Dake. I pick up a topic at random and say a comment (My mom lives in California) and then my son is to say a comment on the topic (My mom lives in Naperville). Work up to 6 exchanges.
Now we are working on a comment-question format. My son is to start the conversation by making a comment on the topic and asking me a question. I answer the question. Then me makes a comment on my answer and asks another question. I answer. He comments and asks a question, I answer (6 turns).

Stinger really struggles with openers and closers-inbetween conversations he does really well at, or he has really improved on...but say he sees me come to pick him up-he wont say goodbye or anything to the teacher etc-he will just leave-ya know...Same thing when he sees someone...So I think I will try this-its a really good idea dont you think?
Anyway-just some catch up...I havent been on her much-Ive been watching Glenn...LOLOLOL
But I will update when I can :)

On To Christmas.....:)
Well this weekends plans were cut short with the weather-surprise..surprise!!LOLOL
We were going to go see harry potter...but we decided by the time we got down to Logan and did all of our shopping that it would be dark and the snow on the roads isn't fun in the canyons in the dark...so we skipped the movie and hurried home...
I got a couple of early Christmas presents from dh:) 2 jackets-a chore jacket so while Im outside with the critters I wont get cold and a nice really warm jacket to wear out and abt. Im soo excited to wear them...but Im making dh wait to use his presents so I have to wait too I guess...:( LOLOLOL
We put up the tree tday after the kids got home from school. Our house is starting to smell all cinnamony with the cinnamon ornaments:) Nummy!! I love it!! Then when you go outside you can smell wood fireplaces-another favorite smell of mine:) Doesnt take much does it??:) But I love this time of year:)
Flmaingos long awaited gift that I ordered came tday for Christmas. I just KNEW I was in trouble with these Monster High things....ugh!! I should have grabbed them all up in Sept like I thought I should have at the time...LOLOL, as she wants them all now..and you cant find them anywhere....if you can they are going for sooo much more than they were. Ive seen some selling for $50 PLUS when they retailed in Sep at $19.99-crazy-eh?? But I found a sight called Virtual King International and they have some for abt $30-which I thought was OK-so I ordered one on the 26th and I got it TDAY!!! WOW!! Now thats what I call service!!LOLOLOL Anyway-the Flamingo will be soo happy:) She thinks if she asks Santa for things he can get anything-LOLOLOL, I had to tell her some things are even tough for Santa...she couldnt believe it and is asking anyway....I told her I would try my best to get her another doll..but wasnt making any promises...so in her head Im getting her one and then Santa will get her another...ugh...sigh...LOLOL-just cant win can I??LOLOLOL Shes even made room on her dresser-you should see it....LOLOLOL
Stingers number one Wii game is all sold out everywhere too-so we will have to order that as well I think....geesh...Monkey Boys big item is an MP3 player-as hes always asking to listen to mine...LOLOLOL-and we got that at 5:30 Radio Shack -Black Friday special:)-LOLOLOL

Winter is Here:)
Man-just watched the weather on the news and we are going to be getting a storm coming through tom....yeah...and I havent done any Turkey day shopping yet...guess that will be happening EARLY TOMORROW before it comes...
They are predicting Blizzard conditions...
-widespread zero visibility
-winds 35-50 mph
-2-8 inch snow, with 1-2 ft drifts
-life threatening cond ( if stuck in it)
Wow-kinda reminds me of our drive home Christmas day last year....so a bit early it being here already....guess we prob wont be going nowhere...we were hoping to be with family, but we have decided to stay put this year...guess that was a good call....but Ill miss Papa and Nana!! :(
Heres some pics of our first snow fall on Sunday-puppies first snow too:) Shes just loving it!!LOLOL:)

School Pictures R Here:)
Finally got these back-turned out WAY too cute dontcha think:)Granparents:remind me to give them-my brain is so scattered lately. Van is in the shop...ugh....tday Corsica sprang a leak in the power steering....double ugh....When it rains it pours ard here-especially ard Christmas.......sigh....
But we are so blessed to have other vehicles(even though they have poor gas mileage) and a safe secure job, and we are all together and healthy. So we should be very thankful. Others arent so lucky.......As I was putting the Thanksgiving decorations up tday these thoughts kept coming to my mind. The Lord truly knows when to supply his hugs:)

Update on Flamingo:
Well this is what we came home with from the Foot Dr. today.
Flamingo is anything but pleased with the whole arrangeament. She even asked really sweetly -NOT- on the way home if she could throw them out the window...LOLOLOL....
Seams she has something called Flat Feet-basically no arches on the bottom of her foot...
Basically (as I am still researching all abt it-you know how I am;)LOLOLOL)she needs to wear these fake arches in all of her shoes-all day-every day-for the rest of her life...if not she will have calf pain, leg pain etc, and it will just get worse as she grows....
We will start out slowly-we did an hr tday after school with them in her shoes, etc-but by 3-4 months the Dr wants her to be wearing them all day...
She hates them-she says it feels like a big lump is in her shoe and it drives her crazy-so she has a little bit of getting used to them for awhile. I tried them on and they were SOOO comfy-weird-eh?
But anyway-thats what the Dr said she has. He said she needs to be wearing laced shoes( so no comfy slip on, stylish shoes that she likes that are "in") Bummer....
We need to monitor her shoe wear, and any foot cramping or tired feet etc....He was surprised they hadnt started affecting her already...but she says they dont hurt or anything-but Dr says they will in the future if she doesnt wear the arches....
Some kids just outgrow it with age-by 5-but since she is older than 5-he doesnt know....he talked abt surgery if she starts having pain...but he wants to monitor this and see how it does-surgery is a LAST resort...and seing how there is no pain-Im thinking these arches might be just what she needs in time-ya know...
Who would have thought those arches are so important...
Anyway-thats abt all the info I have as I am still researching-Ive been uploading pics all night-LOLOLOL
