A sombering night....

The Salt Lake Police Department announced at a press conference that the body of Destiny Norton was found this evening at 518 East Elwood Place.

I just finished watching this news release tonight.......I had the intention of writing a regular little blog note, but Im not in the mood anymore. :(
Little Destiny was only 5 years old. The same age of my little Flamingo. A little girl dancing ard in a pretty little dress-feeling like a princess with a priceless toothless grin. I see my Flamingo and I weep. :( I weep for this sweet little sole stolen from her parents by an evil man. Im not to fond of the death penalty, but this guy and all child predators should fry!!!
I can only imagine what this has done to her parents, to her family and friends and relatives. I didnt even know her or her family and I am so torn up inside abt this. I just feel sick......
We will miss you Destiny-our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.....

When Elizabeth Smart went missing I was hit hard with that. I immediately went to all the Amber Alerts and signed up for all the alerts they had!!! I was terrified of taking Flamingo out in the public eye-fearing that someone was watching and waiting......but Elizabeth was found and all was well with the world. I still went to sights to look up predators-ones that were near-ones that were far-studied their faces, looked at the make of their cars. They are everywhere and some really close to schools*shudders*

How can we live in a society where they are allowing this to happen???? You hear abt the parents out there with picket signs yelling about a pedaphile that has just moved into the neighborhood. Yeah..well.....Id be right along side with them.......they'd be lucky to get away with just a picket sign from me.:P
Okay well this isnt a very Christian attitude...but we are talking abt CHILDREN here-who else is out there to defend THEIR rights????-except US the parents.

But then the real scary part-do you REALLY know your neighboors? Destiny was taken just a little ways from her house. Elizabeth was hidden in the woods behind her house.
The whole thing just makes me ill.......just plain makes my belly ache..........
These are the reasons I keep such a careful watchful eye out for my kids. Why it near is the death of me when Stinger wanders off.....when my heart skips a beat when I yell and no child responds as they are "hiding"....Why I walk Stinger to the bus stop EACH morning and am there to see him off of it when he comes home......Why my head whirls when I go anywhere with the kids when dh isnt there to help me keep watch........Why when things are too quiet a take a double look....Why I make sure the windows and doors are all locked at night(yeah our community is small, but why take the chances of a chance being taken-eh?)...Why I dont do ANYTHING or go ANYWHERE that I just THINK there might be a chance I might have to look away from my children for a second, that I might be too destracted to watch and keep my kids safe. EVERY SECOND counts when youve got kids....................IM not taking that chance or that second-not in THIS world anyway.......seconds are all it can take.........Call me a Paranoid- Crazy-out of touch with reality-Overprotective-Insane Mother-I CAN live with THAT;) LOLOLOL

UPDATE!!!!!! FOUND 150 feet away from her house!!!!!!!!!!! SAME COMPLEX SHE WAS LIVING IN!!!!!
yeah...Id be torked too-this family has EVERY right to be upset abt this "search" effort.....livid-yeah thats a better word!!!

SOOOOOoooooooooooHOT!!

OH BOY! We are dying here.........I dont even like going outside these days. And you know its hot when ALLL your kids want to come in after abt 5 min of playing out in it!!! LOLOLOL:) SO we have been trying to figure out some fun things to do out of this scorching weather we are having......
Stinger for the past couple of days has been making bee-hives all over the place. He LOOOOOOVES bees-any kind-bummble bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets they are all the same to him-and oh so neat!! You ask him abt them and he just wont stop talking about what each worker does, what each job description is. Just now he came down to share a cookie with me and I had to eat it like a bee....LOLOL-making sure to say oh yum when I tasted the sugar frosting-as that is the "bees favorite". ;) After lunch he was acting all weird with his feet and I asked him what he was doing and he said that this is what the bees do after they taste something yummy-putting it on their legs etc. Luckily he hasnt taken it as far as actually rubbing real food on-LOLOLOL. Its just pretend for right now*knock on wood*But he showed me each step and was thoroughly pleased with himself. :) So anyway...he is keeping himself busy inside acting like a bee. He's gotten stung more times than I can count and it doesnt even phase him-so he just goes abt looking and exploring, trying to catch or take down a little hive he has found-and trying to sneak it inside. YUCK!!!!! LOLOLOL But thats my Stinger.......utterly focused when he wants to be......
Pink Flamingos got karate tonight so the boys and I will be going to the park, and dropping Flamingo off at her class. Its so hot outside-we better remember to take our water jugs :)Stinger already told me he wants to come home instead-he wants to play in his hive;) LOLOLOL So Im not sure what we will be doing yet. Flamingo has been thoroughly enjoying her karate classes. She just loves being with the other kids-I dont know if its the class so much as seeing her friend there;) The teacher says that she is doing really well-its just a matter of remembering all the steps in a movement that is hard. But she said Flamingo is cordinated -which I didnt think she was-as in Gymnastics she has had trouble with some things. She wont show us anything-I guess she still needs help with all the steps involved etc-but it is hard as I cant stay in the class and watch her:(
It just cant be done with the boys-yes I have tried it once or twice;) LOLOL Not a good deal......not gunna happen;)
Little Monkey has been extremely moody lately-EVERYTHING sends him running away and having a meltdown. Some days aren't as bad, but is a pretty usual thing lately.....But then he can be soooo happy......Ive been trying to really talk with him and give him extra amts of my time etc to see if this is what is causing his moodiness....I dont know.......his cheeks are always red lately-so maybee he is just hot???Or maybee its the bumping into walls that is agrivating him. He actually told me last night that he needed glasses and that his eyes werent good...????LOLOLOL So I guess ill be making an appointment to get that looked at........He is a REALLY bright little guy-his thought process simply amazes me sometimes....
Well thats abt it here...just lazy daisy days of summer.......with the air on 24/7!!!!! AGH!!!!!

GOOFY Looking Blog :(...sigh.....

Okay well I managed to mess something up in here -LOLOL I knew this was bound to happen. I absoluteley have no clue what I am doing-just thought that I would write my ramblings on in here so if its messed up I guess thats okay...LOLOL????
I tried to become apart of an Autism ring-fellow Autism bloggers that I frequently go to anyway and I was pasting and I did it I guess 4 timesLOLOLOL-so I had to go in there and delete them and I guess I deleted something important as my sides are messed up now-I have no earthly idea how to fix this.......LOLOL o-well.....whats new-eh?
ANYWHO..........
I had my meeting with the school psychologist today. I walk in there all nervous not knowing what exactly this 2 hrs is going to entail and loe and behold*GASP* there on the table is the ADI-R test booklet!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!! I did some research when I was looking up the ADOS and found out that this test is more reliable than the ADOS is-(as it is subject to the examiners qualifications etc*rolls eyes*). So to say the least I was overjoyed!!!
I guess this test came back with the graded ADOS from the district, wanting me to answer these questions ...-a good sign that they did see spectrum issues on the ADOS that they gave Stinger. So-no-I dont have the ADOS results yet-believe me I asked agn;)-but no-he wants to wait till the district lady is here...they are killin me-really!!! LOLOL
So now I am not too worried abt the results from the ADOS as I know they will actually see and read my MANY comments on this ADI test too.
YES-I was watching carefully to see that the psychologist was writing down my responses correctly-or if he was trying to reword anything-and surprisingly he was in full agreement in my comments too-another sign that the ADOS is confirming what the doc said at Childrens.....So I guess we just let them dig themselves as deep as they want to go with this-meanwhile I will just keep stacking up my paperwork proving the docs and I's theories on this....LOLOLOLI called my advocate and she WANTS to be there for this meeting with the district lady-LOLOLOL I guess thats not a good sign-eh?
Today went well for the most part. Karate for Flamingo was cancelled so we all ended up going to the park to play. Thought I lost Stinger twice.......cant take your eyes off that guy! But he was in the slide hiding as I am looking ard rubbing my head and thinking up dreadful thoughts....as usual.....
Pink Flamingo-who is Mrs. Social Butterfly had a run in with a real snooty girl on the playground. It broke my heart and I had to explain things to her-that some kids are just plain mean, she doesnt understand this at all......:( I heard some of the comments coming from this girl and boy!!! I had to hold my tongue...I guess this girl was upset as Flamingo was talking with "her" friend.
Maybee its just that I have kids now-but sheesh...I can turn into Mamma Bear awful quick these days.......awful quick.......maybee too quick????NAaaaaaah ;)

"The Tooth Fairy"

Well our little princess Pink Flamingo(5)lost her second tooth today :) She was sooo excited for me to pull it out until I got all ready and then she started to cry. LOLOL I secretly think she just likes the aspect of a "fairy" visiting her at night!!!! LOLOL She has colorful pictures of them that she has pulled out of her coloring book all plastered ard her room-that and Strawberry Shortcake :)She is too funny-just watching her makes me smile as I see her face light up with the simplist things. We got her tooth out with one short pull and she was just giddy with excitement and rushed out to show Daddy Bear(she's a 100% bonifide Daddy's girl). My eyes are constantly rolled as I watch her and see how in her eyes Daddy can do no wrong ;)But its really sweet the bond that they have. So anyway its under her pillow tonight waiting to be turned into a diamond at the tooth fairy's house(one of Daddy's stories agn-LOLOL"this is why she leaves money Flamingo, to say thank you for helping her make her diamond" LOLOLOL Whatever works-eh? LOLOL But HE never really needs to try hard with her :)

We didnt go to church agn today. Its just a big deal every Sunday just waiting for someone to say something abt Stingers behavior-it gets me annoyed, so I just assume not go-kwim? Last week somone in nursery actually had the gall to tell me to take Stinger,my son, into a room and just give him a good hard spanking.GAH!!!!
Now I dont know abt you, but it just urks me the wrong way when mothers who think they are "seasoned" think they know your child better than you do. I can take critism and advice from my Mom-she knows Stinger and UNDERSTANDS what he is going through. But a complete stranger who has no knowledge abt Autism and has no desire to learn( I was actually trying to explain things to her-she wasnt listening etc)well I just have no patience with that.
Okay Im getting all rowled up here just thinking about that lady.....LOLOL
Anyway it was a pleasant Sunday-no cooking fro me!!!YEAH-we ordered Pizza-that always makes my night!!

Our story....

My son Stinger-where oh where do I start??? He's one of the main reasons I wanted to start this blog-was to let others know of our story through diagnosis, the school and all that that entails.

Ill get right to the point-it has been a nightmare regarding the public school system. Stinger was in EI at 2, went to spec ed preschool at 3, and then HeadStart(where they finally took him off his IEP) I thought we were over the bump in the road and then-BAM-Kindergarden. Aggressive behaviors started to pop up agn, was lagging behind the class, etc. I was constantly speaking to the K teacher talking about my concerns and she told me time and time agn that it was a maturity thing-so we just all hoped I guess that things would get better-they didnt. Last year we started the process of evaluating for spec education. I was new to the whole thing-so what should have taken 60 days lasted until 3 months until school was out for the summer.

The IEP TEAM:
BOY! This was interesting-and each time they continue to amaze me still- with flags here and flags there-trying to stop every amount of evidence I bring to their attention. Talk abt a frustrating system. I do have a State Advocate now though-so its gotten better. We could come to no agreement-they thought his behaviors were on purpose, I didnt. They thought he had no speech problems, I could see his language pragmatics not being where they should be. The list could go on and on......
So I opted to go outside the school-even though all the schools tests showed some form of ASD-I wasnt sure where on the spectrum Stinger was. The school simply dismissed their own findings on this!!!

We went to Childrens Hospital and came back with a dignosis of PDD-NOS-My mother Bear intuition was right on. The school was excited to get the results-thinking they had been right-LOLOL .We got the Autism label for Stinger and things are going wonderfully. That is until he started eloping(bolting). Which I have since found out is common in ASD children. The district is now involved and so my nightmare begins agn!!!!
They are questioning EVERYTHING down to the medical diagnosis-they are giving him the ADOS and I am scheduled to go in to an interview abt an hours worth long just them asking me questions.....I am just thrilled-LOLOLOL
ASKING FOR THINGS: PARENTS BEWARE!!!!!
Funny-but as soon as the district saw I wanted things for Stinger and that I was an informed parent-such as an Autism consultant to be brought in-now I am getting the door slammed into my face yet agn.
IF ANY, I repeat ANY parents out there are going through this Id really like your advice......sigh....now that this district lady is involved its getting tricky.......

Okay-Im fairly computer eliterate, so if anyone reads this is going to seam kinda crummy until I get the hang of things.
I love reading other parents blogs abt their children-so I thought-hey!!! Ill start my own.....okay wishful thinking I know, but its worth a shot :)

We are 1/2 way through summer here and BOY!!-its been a long hot one!!!
Stinger-my 7 yr old PDD-NOS angel-is going crazy just running ard all day unless we are following a routine-which is hard during the summer. He's pestering his bro-whom I will call, Monkey, and sis, whom I will call Pink Flamingo to no end, constantly having meltdowns and blowing up at the tiniest thing. Then all of a sudden hes the sweet angel that I know and love. Every day is something new with him and I never know what to prepare myself for!!!:)LOLOL
PInk Flamingo-(my preschooler) is getting ready to start Kindergarden and she is sooo excited-every day I hear abt it too !!! But she is eager to learn and is excited to make more friends and learn her ABC's.
Littel Monkey-(my youngest almost 4 yr old)is happy as can be now that big brother is home-even though at times I can tell he is confused at Stingers actions, but he is such a happy guy, and nothing gets him down for long.
okay gotta go put the kids down for their quite time.....ZZZzzzzzzz
