All Girlie'd Up

Yesterday was interesting......

Flamingo came home and had a whole agenda going on-unbeknown to me. First she did her nails. A pretty white color-she took abt an hour doing this...LOLOLOL, then she ASKED to take a shower-which I thought was just a tad bit weird-as I usually have to beg everyone ard here to get in. Then later on last night she asked if I could put her hair in curlers. It wasnt until bedtime when I found out that she was planning on wearing one of her pretty Easter dresses to school the next day...LOLOLOL

She had picked out the dress and shoes and everything. I got a chuckle out of the whole thing-just watching her plan and getting herself all dolled up-it was too cute. Another sign my princess is growing up....LOLOLOL

She wants to wear another Easter dress on Friday and we will prob wear this one to our family picnic to the hill on Sunday-which I can NOT wait for:)Its more play friendly.....but I found a really cute doo for her hair which we will try as well:



Flamingo thinks this looks really fun :)She is getting all excited for Easter-we all are :)

I cant believe Easter is Sunday-wow-its just really crept up fast on me....Still got shopping to do...yigh...

This is what we usually do for Easter ard here:

The kiddoes wake up, wake us up:)and they hunt for their Easter baskets and eggs:)Its getting harder and harder to hide those big things-as the kids get older you have to get a bit tricky. But this is alot of fun :) Then we eat a nice breakfast, and all get ready to go to the "hill" in Ogden where Papa and Nana and all our cousins will be:)WHOOT!!

AS many of you already know-we roll our egss....Roll you say? Yes...I dont know where it came from-But we did it as a kid and we still get together every year to do it with Papa and Nana and the clan:) We have tunz of contests to see who can throw the farthest, the closest to an object, we have tosses too-all of this while trying to be the last one to NOT break your hard boiled egg. Its really neat here in Utah as the seagulls come and everyone has a ball watching them swoop down to try and catch our eggs:)Here in Utah we also have a really neat park-that has a HUMONGOUS hill-its soo much fun!!!!All the cousins and kids just love it!!!Then we have a big picnic with fried chicken-NUMMY!!!Desert is usually brownies-that I am makingthsi year and we end with kite flying and relaxing.....

Im getting excited just thinking about it!! Easter is my 2nd fav Holiday. And Im betting it has everything to do with how much fun Papa and Nana made it for us kids when we were growing up:)

On Friday we will have some fun lessons too-maybee do an Easter tree and make some resurection cookies:)As we cant forget why we are really celebrating....:)

STINGER Turns 11!!!!!!

We will be celebrating on Sat I think...but Im taking everyone to McD's tonight as Stinger said he'd like that :)But he is excited as today is group and I said it was up to HIM if he wanted to go...yeah-you guessed it..... we wont be going......how did you know? ;)LOLOLOL

I just cant believe he is getting so old-seams like just yesterday when I had to swaddle him SO tight and hold him all the time...I miss those days:(When he woudl fall asleep in my arms......

He is really growing up to make me such a proud Momma. Yesterday at the Hospital the nurse said she could tell who was the oldest-as he was taking charge-as usual-and trying to make Flamingo and Monkey settle down and behave. Stinger just looked at me and beamed:) LOLOLOL

Daddy says that he is the man of the house when he leaves ...and boy..he sure takes it literally...LOLOLOL...Frequently I have to remind him that I AM the grownup ard here...LOLOLOL, but its good to see him taking that responsibility seriously....

He makes my days bright, can make me laugh when I am blue, always watching out for me when Daddy isnt here, so innocent and loyal down to the end,My son-My Sunshine-Forever :)

Dr Updates All around....:)

Yeah-that what it has felt like ard here......LOLOLOL

Dh went to his Primary CP yesterday and they managed to schedule everything that he needs for THIS WEEK-cool eh? I dont know what the deal is with that neuro-but Dh hadnt even heard back from him...So anyway he is scheduled to get his EEG on THursday morning at 7:30, and his MRI on FRiday.

His EEG will be alot like Flamingos was-but his will take abt 2-3 hrs....He will only be able to sleep for 4 hrs from 12 AM-4 AM-then will have his test in Logan. Sheesh..we are all going to be soo tired.....He is to eat a regular supper, but no caffeine or sugar and NO NAPPING on WEd-I think hes planning on going to work-so he can stay awake and then when he comes home he will be sleeping until 4... the test on THursday WANTS you to sleep during it-so he will be sleeping as will we in the car probably...:)

Then he will have his MRI on Friday.

I had my ENT apt yesterday. Gastroesophical reflux was the diagnosis-so thats okay, no narrowing or anything like that was present-which is good :)Its just soo weird-no heartburn and boom-Ive got refux. He also said that that was weird and me being young(yeah... I liked that :))that he wants to do more tests...so he thinks I might have some sort of bacteria in my stomach? So I had to go get my blood drawn..again....and this lady clearly had NO idea what she was doing.....She ended up pokeing me in # places-and still countnt get in-then she went down my arm and did it there-That hurt..yeah...Ive got a big bruise there and she said the vein burst...yeah....LOLOLOL
But Im to take prescription meds and then in 4 months see him again...

But anyway-we shall see how that blood work comes back I guess...I swear Hospitals are beginning to seam like my second home...sigh......yeah...:)LOLOLOL

Barium Swallow Procedure....

Im just starting to feel normal following this procedure...LOLOLOL

Wasn't that big of a deal on Friday.....had to go without food and water for awhile...which wasnt bad...then they gave me two large cups-totally full of the barium white goo liquid to swallow. Tasted like chalk but had the consistancy of thick slime ooooz(sp)LOLOLOL

I abt gagged while I was swallowing-which they kept telling me to do as they took pictures, but I made it through and kept it all down. Just when I thought I wasdone they gave me small little cup of crystals to swallow-and I thought ok-how the heck is that going down...then handed me another cup. I was thinking "Oh good-water to wash it down" but NOooooooooo...more goo to wash it down...yeah!!LOLOLOL That felt like pop rocks, but totally didnt taste like pop rocks...I guess it supposedly fills up your stomach with air-which became quiet obvious as I was instructed not to burp...LOLOL-fun-eh?LOLOLOL

But it was pretty cool watching the Barium slid down my throat and fill up my stomach on the screen-really cool actually...

Then I thought I wa sdone again-but nooo...I was then told to turn ard against the table and hold on? I was like what??LOLOL, It procedded to turn all the way down which it had been standing up...which felt really weird, then was told to swallow agn-as they took some more pictures....and handed me more goo to swallow with a straw....

So by the time I was done I was plum full...but full of that white goo...yeah-eh?
Thats where he saw the reflux going on....He told me that the muscle right there is inflamed and that is what is feeling like a lump. Which makes sense-as thats what is causing that lump feeling in my throat. Which I had been worrying it was my nodule just growing and growing...which, still in my head, is....LOLOL, but thats another paranoid thought and post I guess....dont want to open that wound up again...
oops-opened....darn....Hmmm...okay festering again....okay.......LOLOLOL back to my swallow study...
So I have an apt with my ENT tom and we shall see what exactly he wants to do and what the pictures exactly saw....I have been on a generic prilosec(which is still 20 bucks for a 2 week supply)I will be asking him to make it some kind of priscription so it will only cost 10 bucks a month-better anyway...

When I got home on Friday I had one of those painful closing throat episodes agn-hurt so bad.....I havent had one since I first made the apt -early part of Feb, so I dont know if those pills are working or what???

So we shall see tom I guess...

Sunday night I started having real digestion issues-and massive headaches as the Barium was working through my system I guess...That was a load of fun...but today Im feeling much better and I think Im beginning to get back to normal...Man-who would have thought some crazy liquid going through your body would feel so..... weird-Ill leave it at that-LOLOLOL, but I think giving birth is tops still....LOLOLOLOL

Obamas Health Care (Takeover)

I seriously have been so sick today with this.......I CAN NOT believe they would let this pass when soooo many Americans have told them they are AGAINST this. I can not believe that we fought so hard and risked our lives fighting for our freedoms only to once yet again be controlled by our own government........I weep for our country today...sigh....How did we let this happen? These mandates are sooo unconstitutional-right? so what exactly is going on??

Nancy is just incredible-holding that great big gavel-who the heck does she think she is anyway...ugh....saying that our Founders would be pleased with this bill ..HA!! They were the ones who WARNED us against this type of control!!!!

-Health care WILL go up
-Patients will not be able to be seen so EMERGENCY costs WILL go up(examples in Mass.)
-THEY will get to decide our Drs.,or our costs will go up
-THEY will get to decide our treatments
-THEY will get to decide how we treat our kids medically
..the list goes on and on......and on......what a sad day for our country....we WILL be our own undoing!:(

-just to name a few of the so called effects this will have on our country...and folks this is JUST the beginning....sigh....America has changed folks.....

Update on Dh...

Sorry that I havent been keeping up with this thing.
Dh had his neuro apt last week and as most of you know-he didnt get that OK to drive, which has him quiet bummed.
The Dr thinks he had a seizure as he totally seized up-his whole body , and couldnt remember anything for a good 30 min when he woke up. So he has a bunch of tests planned as soon as they line him up.
I think this whole thing has really shaken him up a lot. He is constantly thinking about it-wondering if and where he will have another one....
I just count my lucky stars that he is OK and that his buddy was there to help him through this...Someone up above was def watching over him and protecting him:)
So he isnt allowed to climb anything, drive, take a bath etc-so he'll be on light duty at work for awhile-which is going to be really hard for him. Hes going to go crazy I know it without things to do, but hopefully they can keep him busy...
Everyone-please keep him in your prayers that he will be comforted and not worry abt things-that everything will be ok:)

How Does Utah Measure Up???

A scathing report released one year ago brought unprecedented attention to the use of restraint and seclusion tactics in schools, documenting rampant examples of abusive and even deadly practices primarily involving special education students.

Now Congress is set to consider legislation this year to institute the first-ever federal oversight regulating these tactics. Meanwhile, a handful of states have made changes in an effort to promote student safety. (Read all of Disability Scoop’s coverage of restraint and seclusion >>)

Yet, for students who enter classrooms everyday, the battle is far more personal. Relatively few protections are in place in most states and consideration of the pending federal legislation will take time. That means parents and students themselves must be on the watch, says Curt Decker, executive director of the National Disability Rights Network, which issued the initial report last January and is currently preparing a follow up report.

Don’t condone it

Most importantly, Decker says, don’t give schools a free pass.

“The IEP should not contain any sanction of seclusion and restraint,” he says. “It’s not proper programming when you have to accept a restraint or a seclusion methodology in order to keep your kid in an integrated classroom.”

Rather, it is the purpose of the IEP meeting to establish appropriate programming and positive behavior supports designed to avoid severe behavior problems, Decker says.

If a child’s IEP currently includes provisions for restraint or seclusion, now is the time to request that such tactics be stripped from the plan. Should the federal legislation pass as it’s currently proposed, such measures will not be allowed in IEP plans anyway.

Watch for the signs

In most cases, parents have no idea that their child is experiencing restraint or seclusion at school. So, even if your child’s IEP doesn’t mention the techniques, that doesn’t mean school staff aren’t employing them.

Keep a keen eye for signs of disciplinary measures gone wrong, especially if you’re dealing with a child who can’t tell you what’s going on at school. Pay attention if a child is nervous about school, refuses to go or is acting out in any way.

“A lot of parents realize that their child was restrained or secluded 85 times before they even found out about it,” Decker says. “If the parents walk into the classroom and the kid is tied to a chair, then yeah, that’s pretty obvious, but too many parents just don’t even know this is happening.”

Look for assistance

If you do suspect trouble, know your rights. The protection and advocacy system, or P&A, in almost every state offers a brochure or manual on restraint and seclusion rules, Decker says. Fellow parents, local parent training centers and other advocacy organizations are also good places to turn for assistance. (Find your state’s P&A >>)

Currently, 17 states have no laws or policies regarding restraint and seclusion in schools. And even in states where regulations exist, the level of restriction varies. (Find out where your state stands >>)

Use the IEP process

Present any concerns to your child’s teacher and other school staff. Then, request records pertaining to your child and demand that school staff document any use of restraint or seclusion, Decker says.

When you are noticing problems, it’s important to trigger the IEP process to examine what’s wrong with the child’s program as a whole that’s leading to behavior issues.

“The whole IEP process is built on the premise that if the child is not doing well – either not meeting the goals or acting out – then it’s a failure of the program,” Decker says. “Don’t accept some kind of physical restraint as the answer to the problem.”

Angels Watching Over Us

We had a VERY terrifying scare last night.

I was waiting for dh to come home as usual when I get a call abt 1 AM that dh had been in a car accident. He phoned and said that he was being transferred to the hospital.

I immediately went into high alert and quickly got the kids up from their slumbers, got them coats and shoes and headed out the door.

We arrived at the hospital just as they were wheeling him in from the ambulance. We went into the emergency and there was my sweety-looking very banged up. But OKAY!!! WHEW!!!!!He had a bloody nose and a huge goose egg above his left eye. THis is where we got all the details abt the accident.

Dh had been driving with one passenger in the UTA van. THey had been laughing an joking when Dh suddenly lost conscieous. His body seized up and his work buddy had to use all the power and strength that he had to manuver the wheel, as dh had it clamped in his hands. They were on cruise control at 75-77 miles per hr!!!! They rammed into the side rail and barelly kept from turning over. But the work buddy managed to keep them on the road and safe.

No other vehicles where involved as it was so early in the morning. The next thing dh knows he is waking up to the work buddy yelling for him to mash the brakes. Thats all he remembers. Talk abt terrifying!!!!

He bumped his head really good on the side window, but he is okay-Praise the Lord!!!! HIs buddy is very shaken up by everything and they both are taking off work today and tom and maybee the rest of the week.

Every test immagineable was done once at the hospital and everything checked out okay. No heart issues, no internal issues etc. But they still have no idea why he blacked out while he was driving-which is very scary. So he is not allowed to drive until he is ok'd by a neurologist-which is set for tom at 2.

WE finally where allowed to come home last night at abt 6 AM.
Please keep dh is your prayers as he is very worried. He is doing alright-just still shaken by everything. But we are okay.:) Someoen was def watching over him last night:)

Monkey Boy doesnt have CELIAC!! WHOOT!!!!
So I guess on Friday he will be getting his allergies tested along with my barium swallow in LOgan:) Nummy!!-Im sooo glad though abt the Celiac-now we just gotta figure out what his tummy deal is....??Hmmm....Allergies I imagine....

ST Patricks Day Do's

Tomorrow Monkey Boy has an apt to get tested for Celiac Disease. He needs to get some blood drawn and I have been dreading telling him all week-but figured I had to tonight.

Boy-did the tears start to fall:( My poor little guy. He is just terrified I think since his IV abt going to the doctor and getting poked agn just is very frightening for him now:(

Every time he thought abt it tonight he would ask me questions and hed start to cry. "where will they put it Mom? " "but Mom thats where my other owie is!!!!!" " But that hurts over there too!!"

UGh-Im hating I mean hating every min of this!!!:(

I had thought that celiac disease was just an allergy initially-so I was considering not getting him tested, but with the research I have done over the past couple of days-its not a good thing to have and not treat AT ALL...

A child who is not diagnosed properly can go on to have osteoporosis, certain cancers, small stature, miscarriages, and other problems as an adult.
What Causes it?

Children who have celiac disease have an immune response to gluten that damages the lining of the small intestine. This flattens the lining of the intestine so it does not absorb and digest food the way it should.

So I think its a must.

I thought Monkey Boys upset stomachs were just that-upset stomachs. I notice them alot during holidays so I thought it was stress etc....but the Dr said that it could be because of different foods being eaten and more baked goods with flour etc....that I make alot during that time...

He will just for no reason some nights-Id say its at least once a month- just get sick for no reason. He will wake me up and Ive got sheets to wash etc...This has happend numerous times and the next morning he is right as rain???

When we went to Roadhouse the first time, he said he didnt care for the plain rolls....and later than night he was sick. Since then slowly he hasnt been wanting rolls, or any bread, like on hamburgers(McD's) etc... which is really weird...as those are his favorites....hotdog buns, etc.......so that is why the Dr said his body is telling him not to eat them....so he's not eating them.

So we shall see I guess if this is what it is.

He sure wasnt happy abt the news though tonight abt going to the Dr again:( I tried everything and said everything I could think of to get him to be okay with it. Guess what put a smile finally on his face? I told him he could choose any kind of treat he wanted-a happy meal?no....an icecream? no.....candy? no....a soda pop? no.....I finally told him-okay...anything......? and he said a pack of watermellon chewing gum!!!LOLOLOL-how funny is that?? I told him okay-how abt 2 packs of chewing gum and a pop? And he was all smiles:) Whew!LOLOLOLOL

Stinger Stuck On the Couch...

Well Im feeling a TUNs better this morning :) Whoot!! Good thing too-as the house totally needed a cleaning:)So Ive got that done and need to still help Monkey Boy finish a poster project for school tom-Hes got to make one of his favorite things-Hes doing wonderful-still complaining about a tummy ache though-but hes keeping things down and is hungry :) My tummy is a bit quessy still-so doubt Ill be eating much-but Im feeling better:)

Stinger is on the couch. Didnt sleep well last night and hes just in very slow- mo today:(He doesnt feel like moving, eating or drinking-but Ive been making sure hes getting something inside every few min:) Dont want another episode like Monkey Boy:(
But hes feeling really lousy......Nothing has come up*knocking ..again* LOLOL
He's happy he gets to miss group today :)Poor guy though-he just looks misereable:(

Flu Bug Hits...ugh...:(

Well I dont feel like writing much-but I thought I would write an update on what all happend today-...Had it all worked up in my mind and teh ENT decided not even to scope.

So he looked down my throat with a mirror deal-said I have LRE-basically acid reflux-yeah-and it can be silent-as in not have heart burn, but feel a lump in throat-be painful in throat etc..so Im taking some meds for 2 months. Getting a Barium Swallow done at the Hospital in Logan on the 19th-fun:) Then we shall see-he said I am of interest though-yeah,...?what the heck-LOLOL- as I am having some interesting symptoms.
He said I dont have "goiter" its presenting itself as one, as my nodule is enlarging my thyroid...so thats a relief-I was picturing a huge mass growing on the side of my neck:)But he said my nodule was almost 2 inches-what?? So we need to keep monitoring it he said...so thats not re assuring.....but he seams to think its okay to leave alone..so what do ya do??....????

Monkey Boy is feeling much better an dis eating things now-not reg food, just liquid stuff, but hes keeping it down. Last night he was puking agn at 9, so we shall see tonight *knock...knock"but he looks and is acting much better

Stinger has been down and out today and has felt like puking all day-you can totally tell when hes not feeling well as his energy just depletes really fast...so we shall see tonight with him...

Ive got puking going on too-yeah...I havent eaten anything since breakfast-but Im trying to keep liquids down...NOTHING sounds good-NOTHING....Im not feeling hot at all...:( Guess we have the stomach flu, bug-whatever-my all time favorite:( UGH!!I just get really crabby and I hate that....I just feel like sleeping-which Im probably going to do on the couch in a sec:)

"The Worst Day Ever"

Poor Monkey Boy.......
I JUST got back from the hospital. Everything is fine-just to let you all breathe....:)
But Monkey Boy and I were at the hospital up until now from abt 12 this afternoon.

As you all might have been aware...everyone is a bit sick here. Started with me and Ive given it to all the kiddoes. Flamingo is through the worst -only having a cough and Stinger has the stuffies...but Monkey Boy had been running a 102-103 temp for two days. Yesterday morning I woke up to Monkey Boy crying in the bathrooom puke all over and everything else you could think of but blood was on the bathroom floor:( So I had quiet a job of dissenfecting to do and cleanup and sheets and clothes to wash...His fever had broke, so I thought he had just had an upset stomach from Sonic the night before....plus a belly upset from the sickies going ard....So he has been out of school all but Thursday of last week....then this weekends upset stomach....
But Monkey Boy seamed fine and we all loaded up to go see Alice in Wonderland-me keeping and every watchful eye on my little guy. But he did well and he seamed to be enjoying himself with a smile etc....so I thought we had passed everything...WRONG...

I called the Dr and we got a referral to see an allergist today. I think its glutten related with him-as he is refusing to eat bread now....anyway....they all had off today and the boys were helping dh outside with car stuff.

I hear a loud running and Stinger calling me to hurry up and get outside. I run outside to Dh and Stinger in histeria saying that Monkey Boy had passed out..Dh procedded to tell me how he had shaken Monkey Boy to wake him up-how he wasnt responding and his eyes were open.

IF ANY parent has EVER gone through this-I have with Flamingo too, its the WORST thing in the WORLD to go through. !!!!!!Absolutely teh worst-the panci and fear you go through in those seconds is something you dont even like thinking about or remember-so I understood exactly what Dh was feeling and going through...

But Dh managed to wake Monkey Boy up-Monkey Boy was crying and was really shaken up. So I load him and myself into the car and immediately head to the Dr. Of course everyone was out to lunch-so I opted to go to the Er. as they are right next door. Monkey Boy is still crying and shaken up-Im a wreck-hadnt even done my hair yet...LOLOL, but in we go.

They took all his vitals and were going to administer a liquid test, but after consulting with someone they decided to just administer fluids to him as it had already progressed too far????What???

Dehydration?? I just didnt understand that-he looked fine...was drinking I thought, was eating I thought,had breakfast this morning....but he was dehydrated and thats what had caused him to pass out?Guess his runs and vomiting the day before had completely wiped him out...and I had NO idea-we even went to the movie for goodness sake???sheesh....

So my little angel had to have an IV inserted and boy-was that dramatic for him:( He was crying , I was a mess, and then he was crying again. Crying whenever he looked at the IV-we ended up covering it, and then he was a little better. Poor guy-eh? Complaining of stomach aches and crying and saying he wanted to go home.. Oh it was misereable!!!:( I felt sooo bad for him. Getting an IV is traumatic enough for me and Im the grownup-I could only imagine what was going on in that little head of his.....:( So we had to wait there for the fluids for abt 2 hrs....Monkey Boy woudl cry ever so often-Im sure he was just very scared and unsure of what what was going on...but he did really well-Im soooo proud of him:)he kept saying" Why did this have to happen to me-this is the worst day ever!!" Poor guy!:(

At the end they checked his urine-good, his blood work came back -good. So they watched him for a bit and gave him some teddy grahams and a Sprite :) That made it a little better I think :)

Dh also came up to visit with the kiddoes. Monkey Boy was sure glad to see his Dad :)

Now we are home and he is doing well...I think...sheesh-how do you know?? But he's sipping and eating a little bit...

He's on a bland diet-so no school for tom I guess. Dh went to the store and got him some trailer truck toys for being such a trooper:) and I got him a shake from Wendys:)So I think hes doing better-if the smile on his face tells you anything...but sheesh...what a day!!!!!Poor Guy!!!!

The Dr said something abt Celiac disease-so I need to get that checked at the allergist next week-his apt is for the 19th. The Dr says Monkey Boys body is in a way telling us what is wrong-as he is refusing to eat rolls and breads etc....gosh I hoep ist not glutten stuff related-that is well...in everything...... I guess glutten products upset your gastrial track if you have that-so I need to research it a bit.....but thats what it sounds like to the Dr with Monkey boys puking sporadically....but that wasnt what it was this past week and today-as of the fever with it this week....

Ive got my ENT apt tom afternoon-thrilled with that scope going down...yeah...

I tell ya what-Im abt full of Dr apts, Hospitals, I think to last all the yearand its only March..........yigh....and its still not through.....yeah....sigh...

But anyway-we are all okay, all doing well:)

This wekkend Dh was talking about cars and I just lost it-LOLOLOL, just started crying.....but if thats any indication of too much stress I dont know what else is....LOLOLOL

But we are all okay, we are all doing okay......breath Mrs T. -Breathe...LOLOL...yigh...LOLOLOL
